Your service for air traffic control
Since being established more than 20 years ago the Company “Airport and ATC Systems GmbH” (AACS) is very active in the area of aviation Air Traffic Control and services.
While being developed, AACS always takes on board the existing demands for increased capacity, which are very high in the European ATM industry. These demands can only be met by increasing co-operation between regulating authorities, civil and military ATC providers, airports and airlines. Increasing capacity also requires increased operational efficiency for the ATC providers, which again requires new controller tools. For many ATC providers this means that their existing systems must be replaced or upgraded. Upgrading the ATC system is a long and expensive process and all too often the providers face significant delays, or functionality problems. Preparing a successful upgrade of the ATC system requires the organization to:
- Define how the upgrade meet strategic objectives and stakeholder needs;
- Set up an effective project management organization including the management of contractors;
- Define project plans that take into account the needs for resources and possible contingencies;
- Maximize reliability, availability, maintainability and safety during and after the upgrade
AACS have extensive experience in implementing and supporting large technical projects in ATM as well as in other industries. Combined with the management consulting experience, AACS provides a unique, integrated view of technology and project management. Assessing strengths and weaknesses related to the technical feasibility, project planning (resources, time and cost) and project management of the upgrade, AACS provided a framework for managing reliability, availability, maintainability and safety throughout the implementation. In addition, possible options for organizing and managing the upgrade of ATM and Airport Systems were designed.
Within software and systems engineering AACS is experienced in novel architectures, open and proprietary aviation systems, expert systems, fault tolerance and man/machine ATC interface. AACS developed simulations to investigate ATM systems’ parameters including communication, navigation and surveillance ATM equipment.
AACS works closely with companies and governments to help them use technology to advance. AACS area of expertise evolves continually to keep pace with technology developments and market needs.
AACS has been chosen as the contractor for a number of assignments within the aviation and airport sector and has acquired comprehensive knowledge related to the technical, operational and economic aspects of the ATM and Airport sector as well as profound knowledge of the market conditions.
